WEEKEND CHALLENGE

Hey buddies....

Just in order to have something different to do, in case you have nothing at all, here you are a weekend challenge:
your aim is to describe the difference between the words OTHER  X  ANOTHER.

What do you think of that. I do believe we all have doubt about how to use them. Hope to see your answers ASAP.

See ya!

  1. I think that I understood! So, other means "outra, outro", this is used to not repeat words in the text; and another means "um outro, uma outra", this is use when we need indicate a thing has been said in the text or phrase. Is it?? I think yes, haha

  2. Well, let's see...
    I believe that when you use "other", you have only two options to choose. It's a fixed adjective, it can be placed before a singular/plural noun, or simply alone with the definite article "the" if the object had already been mentioned. Other way, if you use "another", you have more than two options. Besides that, "antoher" can only be placed before a singular noun or alone, because the word's an agglutination of the indefinte article "an" plus the adjective "other". Like this:
    -> I found three keys in the drawer;
    I threw one away.
    I hid another in my hat;
    And the other, I got to open my closet.
